If I enable text forwarding to my Mac on my iPhone running iOS 12, will ALL of my future text messages be forwarded to my Mac? (Or is it only text messages from other Apple devices?) Also, will those messages be erased on all my devices if I erase it from my iPhone, or will they remain on my other devices until I delete them there as well? (Is it different from linking to iCloud?) I'm a bit confused as to how this all works. Thanks!

Text Forwarding forwards all messages from your iPhone iMessage and SMS from Apple and non-Apple devices.

They are two separate functions.
If you enable Text Message forwarding in Settings>Messages on your iPhone, your Mac will receive both your SMS and your iMessages.
If you have iCloud Syncing for Messages enabled, erasing a message on one device will erase it on all of them.
