Links from search do NOT change color using iPad Air 12.1.1

The links from any browser would change color, informing of being used/visited. Now they are staying the same color after visit and with new searches where as before if I researched with minor change any link used would have a different color, I liked seeing quickly if minor changes in search terms hit or missed the links that repopulated.

Do you have accounts/saved settings with whatever search engine you are using? For example, on DuckDuckGo you can change the colors of the visited link. https://duckduckgo.com/settings#

Can you make sure your settings are the way you would like the links to show?

If that does not solve the problem let’s work with one browser at a time.

Go to Settings> Safari

  1. Please confirm that “block all cookies” is off.
  2. Clear your history and website data.

Please re-test the search.

I am not, second item checked.

whats weird is I tried 3 different browsers and only chrome would change color of visited links on a search page, then I changed search engine and then they wouldn’t change. Side by side with iPhone 6+ 12.1.2 all links change regardless of browser and search engine.

this is a iPad that I got Friday at apple store Arden mall when my original iPad would lose battery in 2 hrs, charge fully in 15 minutes, so I believe it’s refurbished, it looks brand new and the hyperlink color strangeness has me going...

Good idea you had, I actually checked after using DuckDuckGo and realizing that private browser might be going,

thank you

That’s what doing a iPad battery repair get ya, I got a “new” iPad and used goog and duck on the dying batt iPad, I didn’t change it until I noticed no links changing after clicking them and going back for more or changing search wording. I was so used to looking and seeing if I got new hits or a percentage of new hits..

yahaoo used work back when I had the first iPad, second year they came out.

ill keep looking for answers just to see if I can.

thank you and merry Christmas

You are welcome. I think the issue may be Yahoo. I never used Yahoo search before, but just tried it out. When I did a search using Yahoo and visited a page, and then used the back button in Safari it recognized that I visited the page. However, when I refreshed the search results page or repeated the same search, it did not keep track of the links I had visited.

I would suggest using a different search engine if you want to track the links you have previously visited.
