Instead of functioning as a switch between capital and lower case letters - so how do I get rid of the unwanted process above and have it function as it should?

What is on your list at settings/general/keyboard/keyboards?
Use the edit button to remove any you do not need.
I have about 40 different languages on the list.
Taking your advice, I have removed 38 of them, leaving only English(Canada) and Emoji.
Now, I finally find that the Caps Lock key behaves as I would expect it to - the only thing it does is shift between upper and lower case letters - no more bizarre menus of the world’s 40 languages.
I think my problem is solved at last - thanks!
I assume that you are talking about the Enable Caps Lock switch.
It doesn’t seem to matter whether this switch is in the On or Off setting.
In both cases, pressing on the Caps Lock button on the iPad keyboard still brings up a menu of language options.
Furthermore, I don’t understand why the Caps Lock button should have anything to do with language options.
I would have thought, that as its name suggests, the sole function of the Caps Lock button would be to switch between upper and lower case letters not as means to change languages.
I seem to have a ton of languages on the menu that comes up when I press on the Caps Lock key.
Unfortunately I can’t tell you what they are since the menu disappears after 4 seconds but believe me, it is an extensive set of languages.
With the exception of Pages, yes, it happens in every single app that you have mentioned.
I am talking about an external keyboard - the one made by apple for the iPad - I don’t think it’s bluetooth - I think it’s a wired connection directly to the iPad via the 3 magnetic buttons on the keyboard.
What languages do you have on your list which comes up?
does this happen in all apps including safari, mail, notes, message, pages?
Not to butt in, but are you talking about an external Bluetooth keyboard or the built in virtual keyboard?
