Unable to activate my eSim on Verizon

I tried to activate my eSim with my present Verizon number on an unlocked iPhone XS Max. I had trouble scanning the QR code because the scanning window locked up. After numerous tries I think I got a good scan but it failed the activate.


The Verizon Tech level 11 said he had activated several phones on an eSim.


I'm running latest SW v12.1.2, anyone got some advice for me. I bought this phone ONLY so I could put Verizon on the eSim and use the physical Sim spot for other Sims when I travel.

Is the nano sim working fine on the iPhone?


If it is working and the carrier supports the eSim, try to back up and restore the iPhone and then try again.


Try to scan the QR code again or use the carrier app to activate the eSim.


Take note the steps that Verizon has taken so you can relay the info to Apple.


If this is still not working, please report this to Apple care so that they can investigate and help you with the issue.

Thanks for your response and advice.


After the attempt to move my Verizon number from the physical nano sim to the eSim, I was able to reactivate the nano sim on my phone. I didn't need to restore my phone from as backup, but I did need to change a bunch of the settings back to the way they were.


My Verizon account is a business account and I am dealing with the business tech support.


I can take my telcel sim out of my other phone and it works fine, but the whole reason was to just carry ONE phone.


I think that this is a problem with Apple and Verizon. When I go to to "Settings-Cellular-Add Cellular Plan" the scan window opens then freezes and scans what ever the camera is looking at. It gives you no chance to maneuver the phone to the QR code. By selecting "Add Cellular Plan" many times I was able to focus on the QR code and then the phone would say that the number can not be activated at this time.


I will contact Apple about the issue.
