Compass 180 degrees off!

If I open up Google Maps at the start of each day the compass heading is always 180 degrees wrong!

I can correct it by either going into settings Privacy>Location Services>System Services and switch compass calibration off and then immediately back on. I can also correct it by waving the phone around in a figure of eight for a few seconds!

This will then stay showing the correct heading... until the following day when it is off again by 180 degrees and I have to repeat one of the two methods to "recalibrate" the compass.

Is this a software bug?

I'm hoping it might be as it can be easily corrected by one of the two methods above?

Surely this must be a common glitch?

I have not seen any other complaints of this.

You may want to make an appointment to have your phone examined at your local Apple Store.

I did Google this and there are people out there who have had the same thing?

It's not a huge problem just a bit of a nuisance.

My TomTom, and Waze, apps work fine it's only when I use Streetmapper that I have to make sure I recalibrate.

I'm definitely not the only one experiencing this strange behaviour.

Then it sounds like it may be a bug with the Streetmapper app.

Hmm not really as Google Maps exhibits the same behaviour...

Oh well I'll call in to an Apple store in when I'm passing.
