apple pencil stops working from time to time until i firmly press into the ipad pro screen in a specific area

i have the brand new ipad pro 10.5” and it has never been broken/dropped etc. However, when using my apple pencil, the pencil will stop working (fully charged) until i very firmly press into the screen using the pencil in certain spots on the screen after wich the pencil will continue working. It seems like a screen issue more than an apple pencil issue but i have no clue as to why the screen would be faulty/ become detached in certain areas?
