12.1.2 battery drain

since 12.1.2 my battery drains from 100% to 20% in 1 hour without using the iPhone 6s. Charging takes a long time and after a hard reset, the iPhone indicates a longer battery percentage. After opening and immediate shutdown of an app , the percentage starts decreasing very fast. Reinstalling 12.1.2 gives the same problem.

How is your battery health maximum capacity percentage?

Settings>Battery>Battery Health... and tap on it.

Check also what apps are using your battery.

what I did is this : empty your battery , then do a hard reset . My battery gave still 22%, empty your battery, then do a hard reset. Repeat this till the battery is complete empty. Then load the battery and after reaching 100% keep it loading for 60-90 minutes.

Apple did a batterytest and the battery was still OK. So it is a software problem. My Phone worked almost a day with the batterylevel at 1% !

I have the same issue.

I downloaded 12.1.2, and immediately my battery is draining 3 x's faster.

Talked with Apple tech support. Battery passed Apple tech support's diagnostic test. Battery Health on my phone is 83%, which is considered a good, working battery that supports, "normal peak performance".

Tech support said I could try a new battery and/or reset the phone as new.

Bottom line to me is, my battery life was great, I installed 12.1.2, and immediately my battery drains 3 x's faster. The problem is with 12.1.2

It's the constant higher CPU use that is draining the batteries on older devices.

Upgraded iPhone 6 from 10.3.3 to 12.1.2 and the battery drains completely in about 7 hours without using. Previously it would last about 2 days. Followed all advice about turning off background app refresh, Bluetooth etc etc and doesn't make a difference.

Activity monitor shows high CPU use from system daemons. Have tried all current signed iOS versions - 12.1.1 and the two current builds of 12.1.2 and the problem still persists. Have also tried a new battery.

I can only conclude that this is a way of getting owners of older devices to upgrade as the hardware struggles to run the later OS.

Note that increased battery usage after installing an iOS update is normal, as all kinds of database indices need to be rebuilt and a lot of general housekeeping goes on.

If your battery is still being drawn down 48 hours after installing the update, make an appointment with your local Apple Store to have your phone examined.

Same problem with my 1.5 year old iPhone 7. Battery was fine prior to the update, now it drains 20% overnight, or about 3-4% per hour without being touched. Prior to the update it would lose maybe 2% overnight. Battery health at 86%. A hard reset didn't change anything. This is definitely a software bug. Will Apple release another update to fix it or is this part of their planned obsolescence of older phones?

I have exactly the same issue. If you do a soft reset then it restores the percentage to what it actually is. However, I also discovered that whilst it shows 1% it may not accept incoming calls. I went into the local Apple store and asked them and after much discussion where I felt I was being robbed off they admitted it probably was a bug in the last upgrade. They did say they expected it would be addressed with another upgrade soon. Fingers crossed!

Same here - I hadn't made the connection to the iOS update though. Battery was at 86% capacity but not lasting the night (100% at midnight, flat before 6 am).

I had a brand new battery fitted but the problem persists. I deleted a raft of apps and was considering getting a replacement 6s but now will have to wait, either for Apple to address the problem or reset my phone and not update iOS.
