Reminders time zone does not update

My iPhone 6s is running iOS version 12.1. I’m having an issue with Reminders. This issue has remained the same regardless of the iOS version - it’s always been there.

When I travel, the time zone updates automatically, which is what I prefer. All default applications update automatically except Reminders. This means that if I have a reminder set for, say, 8am and I travel to a time zone 3 hours ahead, my reminder continues to go off at 8am in the original time zone, i.e. at 11am of where I am. This is not helpful, I need the reminder to go off at 8am anywhere I am.

I saw an old post that suggested turning off the local time zone, but this achieves the opposite of what I need. Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this issue in Reminders please?

Setting alarms is a workaround, but it's just that. With regard to reminders, setting them as location based would not make sense - I need to take medication at the same time each day, regardless of where I am.

The workaround I've been using is just manually resetting the time of each reminder when I arrive in a new time zone, and then setting them back once I'm back home. When I travel 3 hours ahead, my 8am reminder gets automatically updated to an 11am reminder, so I have to edit it and set it back to 8am. Then I need to do the same when I go back home.

It's a pain and I often miss the first or second day until I remember to reset the reminders, but it's doable. I just wanted to know if there's actually a fix or a setting I can access instead. I guess that's a 'no'. :)
