2018 Mac Mini - monitor problems

I have a new 2018 Mac Mini (running OS 10.14.2) which is connected to a LG 24UD58 monitor via a USB3 to DisplayPort cable.

When I shut down the Mac and then try to start it up again, the monitor is blank and does not appear to be receiving a signal from the Mac. I had the same problem when using another monitor (my old Dell U2312HM) using the DisplayPort cable.

When I connect both monitors (the LG via Display Port; the Dell via an HDMI), I am able to shut the Mac down and then start it up again, with both monitors working.

There are other users with similar problems.

Is there any fix?

many thanks

The Mojave 10.14.6 update appears to have resolved the issue for me. Before the update, I sometimes (but not always) had to press the power button on the Mac Mini (i7 16G 1TB) a couple of times (one press for 1 second & release, then a quick second press & release) before the Mac would recognize the monitor (an LG 34" HDMI connected). After the 10.14.6 update I haven't had to go through that rigamarole again. The Mac is recognizing it every time now as it should.

When is monitor issue going to be fixed? How much refund will buyers be getting for the poor excuse for they know about the problem! When did they know of problem and why is it not remedied asap! Apple needs new management that do not put crap out in the market and nonchalantly say they know they screwed up! The cost of apple products is very high for the degrading value since jobs died!!! So when will the no signal monitor be fixed I'm sure the problem was known before the first mini went off the shelf but the new management sold it any way!

Last Saturday my Cinema display started working again. But as many others reported here, after it sleeps, the issue returned. Every time I connect the USB-C cable form the monitor, the Mac Mini free and restarts. No problems with the HDMI port.

I'm still waiting for the Apple engineers report (that would take only 48 hours accordingly to the Senior support that is handling my case).

Not fake. Literally the only people that would be able to contact me on the phone through this website are people with access to my Apple ID information (which, would be Apple, unless they’ve been compromised). I’ve also received correspondence from them and have previously corresponded with engineers watching this forum on other issues I’ve experienced over the years.

Thank you for your concern.

Apple reliability has been very consistent for me ver the years:

the 24° 2007 iMac had two gpu replaced in the course of his life (not under warranty),

the 17° 2011 Mac book pro had two motherboards replaced as well (under warranty) and it's now on his third.

The 2014 retina MBP has a CPU problem apparently so that it shouts down randomly if I don't disable the thunderbolt drivers, it would cost 500€ to fix, (thanks Apple).

And now this, piece of crap Mac mini, it's really time to escape the "ecosystem" my bad for not doing it sooner.

Davert - I do believe it's getting narrowed down...and that's what we must do before Apple can acknowledge the problem. It needs to be completely reproducible. My brand new LG monitors have been working fine...BUT - I have not tried them with HDMI. Both are using DisplayPort to Thunderbolt...

If it is only LG monitors...doesn't that make it more likely to be LG's problem? Are we sure it's LG? (Davert - I don't want my new displays to die on me either! Ha ha)

Thanks Malcolm...that was stupid of me. ;)
