Edit payment info

When I was directed to modify my credit card info, I did, and clicked “save” button-

a prompt appeared directing me to www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww

(this site) -now what do I do!? TY

Follow the steps at Change or remove your Apple ID payment information - Apple Support for steps on how to change your payment information.

By the looks of the message you are getting, something may have gone wrong with the change of information, and you may need to Contact Apple Support.
