Missing start up disk

I wanted to erase/reset MacBook for new user. I erased, but now when I try to restart it flashes the prohibit circle. I have then tried to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion but it doesn't show me a start up disk to select .... appears that the disk is missing.... now what?

Mac OS X cannot start up from this disk issue. I have a 2006 MacBook Pro; I am the original owner. I have the original box and all original paperwork and discs, etc. The computer has always worked with no issues; battery and power is still working great. I tried to reset the computer and re-install the original Mac OS X system from the included disc. On startup, I held 'C' until the disc startup started. However, it won't let me install. I get the notice 'Mac OS X cannot start up from this disk issue." I have included a photo for your assistance as well. Does anyone know how I can reset and re-install?

Startup disk missing When I reinstall my MacBook Pro, the startup disk is missing, and I cannot complete the process. How do I fix that?

I figured it out I think! I just did a partition with new name, and that showed up as start up disk! I am downloading OS X now, I hope that works out!
