One of my usb ports is dead - is there a fix?

The solution would start by taking the Mac to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center. Let them assess the Mac and advise you how to proceed.

Thank you for posting. Pretty obvious I guess, I bought my Mac used....but will check it out.
