Bitdefender disappeared after running Onyx for Moajve, Unable to uninstall since

Hi,

last week I run Onyx for Mojave.

After restart the red Bitdefender Icon had disappeared from the top menu bar.

In the Application folder there is still the Bitdefender folder but only with uninstall link. After initiation of the uninstall routine and password confirmation, the program tries to uninstall but runs into an unexpected error, which is displayed as error message, and uninstalling quits upon clicking "close".

Off to the Library i went and had a look there

Macintosh HD->Library->Bitdefender->Central->Agent / Modules etc. everything seems to be still there.

Also got a warning that related to a changed signature in bitdefender and the only option was to deny all outgoing connections, cant remember which program warned me here.

I tried to repair disks permissions in Mojave to no avail.

No patience and time to trouble shoot, so i was trying to re-install Mojave and downloaded the Mojave installer from the appstore, but at the end of the download I get the error message download can't be verified, so this isn't an option either at the moment.

Malwarebytes scans return clean, (and according its own logs it is still updating new definitions, and little snitch seems to connect to legit ips only (im aware that it can be bypassed tho). Avast wouldn't install and neither AVG. SOPHOS did install and came back claen after scanning.

Did make a backup of the system, pretty much the only thing that worked.

Would be thankful for practical tips. What i am looking for is a way to obtain the mojave installer and then just flatten the HDD clean install. Since i have this MBP mid 2012 only upgrades happened , or if anyone else has run into this and found a way to uninstall the bitdefender files i'm all ears.

Thank you in advance

Basics for Uninstalling Software

Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them at the above location and delete them, too.

Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. If you cannot find the uninstaller then you could download the freeware, Easy Find, to locate files that need to be removed. The places you need to search include:

  1. /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. Check if the application has created a folder then delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.
  2. Applications may install a startupitem or a LogIn item. StartupItems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder or the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Login Items are set in the Users & Groups preferences.  Open it in System Preferences, then click on the Login Items tab.  Select the item from the list and click on the Delete [-] button to remove it.
  3. Some software use startup daemons or agents.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.

Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
