Compass not accurate on iPad Pro 2018

Does the new iPad have too many magnets in it to function as a good compass - is that why they didn't include a compass app? Although the specifications of the new iPad include digital compass, there is no app native to the iPad Pro. I have installed 2 third party compass apps but both of them read identical and both are 31 degrees off of actual. No amount of rotating the iPad helps nor does turning on/off Location Services in order to recalibrate it. Apple Support cannot help - all they say is take it in for service. I was thinking of doing that but then I thought about all the magnets inside the new one and wondered if it can no longer be accurate enough. My Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 shows accurate readings when setting side by side to the iPad. What are others finding about its accuracy?

In addition, one app is still working, but inaccurate. The other app is no longer working (ie does not show a changing heading) nor is a third app I just installed working........

Found the answer! It turns out my case was causing all the issues even though I had the cover hanging down away from the screen in case the magnetic latch would effect it. I had to totally remove the case before the compass apps would work and work accurately.
