Tapping remote 3 times to toggle subtitles no Apple 4K TV longer works

This used to work a year ago, then one of the updates broke it. Initially I figured out Apple just decided to remove this useful feature altogether, but one of the Accessibility options clearly says 'click menu button 3 times to toggle subtitles'. Which means that the fact it no longer works is a bug. I tried tapping the active area (which is how it worked in the past), and clicking Menu button 3 times (which makes no sense, because Menu button takes you out of the movie).
