Why can’t I see the apps on the Apple Watch when I press the side button twice?
What other button on the other side? A single press of the digital crown brings up the apps.

Because the action for display of apps list or grid is to press the Digital Crown once. Double press on the side button is to use your watch for Apple Pay if you have it configured, and a single press on the side button should display the list of recently used apps.
It is possible your digital crown has failed. Try holding both buttons down, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.
Thank you, but pressing the side button does not activate anything. Even the other button on the side does not do anything. Any other suggestions?
A single press of the Digital Crown does not bring up the apps. Why would that be?
