How do I keep the menu bar from hiding in safari?

I updated my MacBook Air today (running Mojave 10.14.2) and when using safari in full screen, the menu bar (with time, battery, menus etc) disappears. I obviously can access it by when I bring the cursor to the top of screen but I'd like to just be able to always see the time. I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find a setting to fix this. Is there a setting somewhere to fix this?

Thanks!

Macbook (2015 or later)

If you mean the menubar (with file, edit, view etc), then you can't have that always displaying when you're in full screen, it just doesn't work that way.

The only way around this is to option (alt) click the green button in the top left, rather than just clicking.

This will expand the window, rather than making the window full screen and you will still have the menubar visible.
