MacBook Pro log in screen is ugly
I just installed Mojave 10.14. When I power on the computer, an ugly brown mound of sand picture comes up. How do I change that?

Go to System Preferences/ Desktop & Screensaver and pick another scene to use for your desktop screen. You can also pick a stored photo from your Photos Library if you want to.
Thank you. It isn’t the desk top background, that was easy to change. It is when I first power up my mac. My nice, cute user icon is awash in ugly sand dune brown filling the computer. I tried renaming a mojave.heic but that didn’t seem to help.
You have to replace the Mojave.heic file with one to your liking that is named Mojave.heic.
Just to clarify, you have to replace the Mojave.heic file that already is in the folder with the picture you want to use which you have to rename Mojave.heic and move into the folder.. The name has to be exactly the same.
That "ugly brown mound of sand" is the Mojave desert, which macOS Mojave is named after.
Of course it is the Mojave desert. I am unsure why attitude is listed instead of opinion. I think the brown sand dune isn’t aesthitically pleasing, and I was hoping for help in changing it.
Thank you. I renamed a file to that already and it hasn’t helped. I figured I was missing a step somewhere.
You're welcome. If you follow the steps from the link it works.
Dang, it didn't work for me. I've tried it a few times, and even used one of the stock photos in the library. Thank you anyway for the help and the suggestions.
You are very patient, and I appreciate that. When you write 'move it into the folder', you mean the /Library/Desktop Pictures/ folder? Yes, that is done, too.
Well, if you replaced the originaln Mojave.heic file of the sand dune then it certainly can't show it on the log in screen.
Maybe it is expecting an actual .heic image format and not a renamed .jpg or .png. Wouldn't put it past Apple to be that specific.
Actually just changing the extension works with jpgs and pngs. I haven't tried others.
