I just recently noticed that Amazon Prime will no longer allow me to purchase videos. I see a “this video is unavailable for purchase on this device” message below the video I’d like to rent. Is this just me, or is this new? I’ve been renting from Amazon Prime for a while and this makes no business sense, whatsoever. Thanks in advance.
Ok I will clarify. It is not new and that has never been possible. However, even if it were new there is nothing anyone here could do nor could they comment on why.

The thread you you linked to was a completely separate issue regarding airplay, however the principal was the same. Amazon was blocking airplay at the time, and it was their decision to eventually add the functionality to their IOS app, just as it was to finally create the TVOS app but prevent purchase from within that app.
If Amazon offers rentals or purchases through an iOS app or Apple TV, they would need to give Apple a percent of the purchase/rental fee. Amazon doesn't want to do that.
You'll need to rent or buy through a browser. You'll then be able to access your content through the Apple TV.
It’s not a generic response. That has always been the case. No one here can answer as to why and speculation is not permitted. You will need to contact Amazon if you want an answer.

Obviously I know I can contact Amazon, but throughout this community historically pertaining to this issue it seems like the generic response was your first reply. The initial reply didn’t even address my question: “Is this just me, or is this just new?”

Again, my question regarding the issue was, “Is this just me, or is this just new?” I’m not seeking speculation, but if others have recently endured this problem with Amazon Prime and AppleTV, not from the same issue from 2012, since after that time it was possible.
