Can I keep the music I already downloaded on my individual plan when I switch to family plan?

Are you upgrading your own plan, or letting yours lapse and joining someone else's family plan. The first should be OK, the second not so much.

I don't know. It might be fine, but it isn't something I've experienced. It depends on whether or not you have to cancel your existing subscription and let it lapse before you can join the Apple Music Family Plan. You'll always get to keep your own music, but content from the Apple Music subscription might need to be added again. I guess the only way to know for sure is to try it.
