I am having a problem with my iTunes music library. I want to be able to only view songs I have downloaded without hiding my purchases. I knew that there used to be a way to do that, I just don't remember how to do it.

Downloaded or not downloaded? Can you make a smart playlist that shows exactly what you want to see? E.g. if you want non-purchased media you could use Location is on this computer, Kind does not contain purchased, and if necessary Kind does not contain protected.

I just re downloaded it.
Going to a playlist every time I open iTunes would just be annoying. The problem I have with it showing my purchased is that it sometimes changes the name of an album. For example: I changed the name of "The Beatles 1967-1970 (The Blue Album)" to "The Beatles 1967-1970", but every single time I go into iTunes, it displays "The Beatles 1967-1970 (The Blue Album)" even though it's really called "The Beatles 1967-1970".

That is currently on and I still see iTunes store purchases.
Ah, if iTunes insists on "correcting" your desired changes to metadata for purchased items then hide that item from your purchase history. That really does seem to be the only reliable fix.
