Help initializing an older ipad

I’m trying to initialize an older iPad and it wants to backup from my iPhone 7. My backups were all made with a newer operating system than the iPad has. How can I bypass the step requiring a backup?

IPad restore from older ipad backup I have a very old ipad running 12.4 and have backup it up on my mac. I am trying to restore it to an iPad Air which I have wiped and is running 13.3.3 with this data so my Dad can have a better iPad. But it tells me I cant as the ipad I'm moving the data to needs to be running the latest iOS. So I went to update it but it was already running the latest iOS it is able to run (13.3.3). So i tried an iCloud backup and that won't work either. Im stuck basically. Any help appreciated Nig

Can I restore an older iOS backup onto a device running a newer version? This question was asked a while back and I think what the guy was asking was not answered right so I hope he liked his update. The guy in question as well as myself I believe is asking if you do a backup is your operating system saved so that if you don't like a new version, you can go back to your older iOS by using the older backup. People were answering yes but I think they mislead the guy. I think they are saying you can use the older backup, but the operating system stays with the newer version. It was made to sound like you can use backup to go back to how your phone was setup at the time of the backup, with both operating system and data. I would like to be assured I can do that, but I am pretty sure you can't. So, is there any way to go back to a past iOS version?

Connect the iPad to your computer with the latest version of iTunes open and update the OS there.

Then use a friends computer with the newest iTunes version or go to your Apple Store for assistance.

I think hunk the problem is that it’s a very old computer and can’t run the newer IOS versions.
