iPhone XS max dual sim

Why can’t I insert 2 sims to my phone? The tray seems to accept only 1 sim. I bought the phone from US in late September.

That model supports only 1 physical nano SIM and 1 eSim. Only models for China, Macau or Hong Kong markets support 2 physical SIMs
