How do you get a 7.1 rear Aggregate device to output on all speakers when listening or watching non-surround sound compatible media

I have setup a 7.1 surround sound system using a 6ch sound card and the Macs built in outputs up in the Audio MIDI Setup app (as seen bellow)

This works perfectly when watching supported video however when it comes to playing songs in iTunes or watching videos on youtube it only comes to the front left and right speakers. how can I get it to output to all, have tried to create a stereo multi output device which did not work.

I apologise if this is in the wrong category, I couldn't find a more appropriate one. If this isn't the right place would you mind helping me find the correct one.

What amplifier/receiver are you playing audio through? Most have a setting that would allow a stereo channel source to play through all the speakers.

Well I don't either. It's apparently doing exactly what it should be doing which is to play stereo sources through the front left and right channels. What I was saying was, unless the sound card itself has a way to modify that I don't believe it's possible.
