Safari 12 hasn't eliminated all extensions. It did tighten the criteria for extensions so that some of the older ones will not work. If you will look at the link I posted, there are Safari 12 compatible extensions there. There have been adblocking/popup blocking extensions for many years. If you will look at the link, Ka-Block is one.

In Safari 12, go to Safari/Preferences/Websites/Pop-up Windows to enable popup blocking on sites.

Apple has eliminated the use of extensions with their latest update for Safari to 12.0

Next to this, there is and has never been a pop-up blocker extension.

The pop-up blocker could be activated with a tick box under preferences, security tab, this is no longer available.

Why? I have no clue, the use of Safari becomes more cumbersome as ad-blocking extensions can also no longer be used.

Switching to Opera of Firefox seems to be the alternative.

Thank you for your reply and directions.

I think it is stupid to move the block pop-up window under privacy to websites as I now have to do this for every website.

In my eyes this does not make any sense and I have really no idea why Apple has changes this.

Anyway thanks for your help and I guess the best thing is to move to another browser that still offers this without any hassle.
