Garageband won't update

I took over my son's MacBook because he broke it. I got it fixed by Apple and set up my account. He no longer has an account. Yet, Apple won't allow me to update Garageband software that I believe came with the MacBook? It says I didn't buy it or got a refund for it.

Can't update garageband I purchased a factory refurb Mac mini from the Apple Store a while ago. Recently, I was notified I had several updates, so I went to get them. Numbers, Keynote, and Pages updated fine, but GarageBand and Keynote refused to update, giving me the message "GarageBand cannot be updated because it was refunded or purchased with a different Apple ID." This is puzzling, as these apps were all the ones that came on the Mac mini when I purchased it, and I've always used this Apple ID on this machine. Anybody have any insight on this? MD

2011 Mac Mini on OS Sierra won't update GarageBand, error message I'm using a mid-2011 Mac Mini on OS Sierra and there is a GarageBand update showing in the App Store, but when I try to update it I keep getting an error message that says it can't update because it "was refunded or purchased with a different Apple ID". I have no idea what it's talking about, the program came with this Mac Mini and I am the only owner.

Garageband does not update - brand new mac Hello, I just got a brand new macbook air, and although I have tried many times I am unable to update garage band. Besides the annoying notification, I get this message, saying it was refunded or purchased with a different apple id. Seeing as this came pre-installed, I don't get it.
