OSX Mojave does not pause music when AirPods are removed from ears

Prior to upgrading to OSX Mojave, when I removed my AirPods from my ears, my music paused. After upgrading, the music keeps playing but switches to the internal mac speakers for the output. I would prefer to have the music pause (as it used to prior to Mojave)... AirPod behavior is somewhat customizable in iOS, why not in OSX? Please add a set of customization options for AirPod behavior such as that described above, as well as options for double tap on right left AirPods (like in iOS!!). Thank you.

If there is a work around for my issue, or some way to customer AIrPod behavior in OSX Mojave, please someone let me know! Thanks!

According to Learn more about your AirPods with charging case:

"When you have Automatic Ear Detection on and you're not wearing your AirPods, audio plays through your device's speakers. When you turn off Automatic Ear Detection, these features are off and all audio plays to your AirPods whether or not you're wearing them".

So turn Automatic Ear Detection off by navigating to Apple menu () > System Preferences, click Bluetooth, then click Options to the right of your named AirPods. Uncheck Automatic Ear Detection. On the same pane you can also make selections for Left Double-Tap and Right Double-Tap. You may want to set one of the AirPods up for play/pause on a double-tap. Click Done when finished.
