Format Drive for Time Machine
I purchased an external 6TB G-Drive to backup my iMac 2011. Is it a good idea to reformat the drive even though it is pre-formatted right out of the box? If so, it should be a straight format using Mac OS Extended (Journal) with a single partition, correct? I came across an article (see link below - Step 2) about formatting the backup drive by creating two partitions, one for Time Machine backup and the other for regular file system access. Why would the online article suggest two partitions? Which formatting scheme is better?
