Thanks for your response!
few details to make the question more specific and see if this is normal.
Retailer: B&H
Not in store, the price is high on their website when I compared the configuration from Apple website.
Here is is the story:
(Mid 2018, Space Gray) (B&H#APMR9R2LLA, MFR #MR9R2LL/A)
- 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 Quad-Core
- 8GB of 2133 MHz RAM
- 512GB SSD
- 13.3" 2560 x 1600 Retina Display
I am trying to know if there are any rules for an authorized retailer to sell the Apple goods for higher price than they are sold by Apple. I believe there should be?
If B&H is selling the Apple product for higher price than Apple then are they supposed to have some policies on their website which makes sure the buyer is not misled?
Why would B&H only increase the price during the deal?
I am not Apple so can not speak for Apple. but I assume a retailer can set his price based on the local market conditions. Why wouldn't/shouldn't they do so? If a local retailer is pricing his computers higher than you can get one online, tell the retailer why you are making the purchase online.
Those are questions for B&H. If I was a retailer and Apple was forcing me to sell at a dictated price I would resist that effort. If I was a consumer and Apple was engaged in fixing B&H and other retailer prices I would take action regarding price fixing. As a consumer it is to my advantage that retailers set their own competitive price. But this discussion is beyond this technical help forum's purpose. If you have issues with B&H selling you a computer at a price lower than Apple charges take up the issue with B&H and offer to pay them the higher price. I don't think many would agree that you should pay B&H more.
If you walk into Best Buy you'll find Apple products at prices that may differ from Apple's online prices.
