mouse preference pane missing

can't open mouse preferences in SystemPreferences. icon shows generic "gearbox", and on click I get an error: "Could not load Mouse preference pane."

Try opening the preference pane in Safe Mode:

@Luis Sequeira1 - yes, i have used a "cleaner" app called "phone clean"... could that be the cause?

Download and run the 10.14.2 COMBO Update - even if you are already running 10.14.2.

Sorry to report the update had no effect on the problem.

And I am now 7 GB poorer on my HD.

Have you used the infamous "cleanmymac" or other cleaners on this mac?
