'FILTER FAILED' ERROR WITH EPSON XP-225 PRINTER

Following earlier user solutions, I deleted the printer in System, preferences, and then added it back. This has got the printer working again but now there is a considerable delay between requesting a print and when it starts to print. This never happened in the past. I suspect the problems started after the last OS update (Sierra 10.12.6).

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks. When I tried to add back the printer I got an error message saying the information was missing from the Software Update server (whatever that means!) so I downloaded drivers etc. from Epson and now everything is back to normal. Thanks.
