GarageBand to iMovie

I was recording on GarageBand and wanted to add that file onto iMovie. I tried exporting through GarageBand by going to File>Movie>Export Track to Movie, but it wouldn't let me. Then I tried going through iMovie by adding audio, but my file wasn't appearing in iMovie under the GarageBand section. I saved and closed my GarageBand file, but it said "1 file is missing iLife preview unavailable." I also tried adding the GarageBand file to my desktop, then adding it to iMovie, but it said the file couldn't be opened. Please help.

"File > Movie > Export Audio to Movie" is only available, if you have the Movie Track enabled. Then GarageBand will replace the Soundtrack of the video you imported to GarageBand by the current GarageBand song.

It works like this:

  • Track > Show Movie Track.
  • Add a video to the Movie Track by clicking the ^ to the right of "Movie". and select "Open Movie"
  • Now create and mix your GarageBand song arrangement and then use "File > Movie > Export Audio to Movie" to add the song as a soundtrack to your video. This will modify the video file on your disk.
  • Import the modified video file to iMovie or Photos, if you want.

My screenshots are from GarageBand 10.3.2. Which version are you using?
