On the previous OS's, when from Finder we chose a folder and "Open in New Tab" we got a new window which started at the folder we chose. This is very practical when we we have a structured filing protocol with many folders imbedded in a main folder. Now the "Open in New Tab" just opens a new tab showing the start as in the main tab. Is there a way to get the "Open in New Tab" to behave as in the previous versions?
Hold the option key when right/control clicking the folder.
You're welcome. That's a different issue than what you stated. You seemed to be saying a tab opened instead of a window, not that the wrong window opened.
Try deleting ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist then relaunch the Finder by right/control clicking on the Finder icon in the Dock while holding the option key.
I guess not, You just need to change your protocol to be open in new window instead of new tab to work probably
Maybe it's a timing issue. You have to right/control click on the folder, and while holding it, then press the option key.
Thank you for the response. But it still does not work.
I found that if I use the "Open in New Tab" while using the "View as List" it does work. But it used to work in Column view as well. Not anymore.
Thanks again. I have tried. This combination of keys just opens a new finder window exactly the same as the one that was previously opened.
The only way to do what I am trying to do is to select view as list which is a bit annoying.

I think I see what you were saying. When you open a new tab, it will open the folder in whatever view it was last set to.
