I just noticed this on Facebook;
My urgent question is; "How did Facebook get access to my Contacts?"
I have NEVER given permission to Facebook to access my Contacts and when I go to Messenger and/or Facebook in settings on my phone Contacts is not listed on 'Allowed access'
I'm very worried as I don't want Facebook to have access to my contacts.

If I recall correctly, if someone you know gives FaceBook access to their contacts and you're in their contacts, Facebook then has your contact information and knows that you're friends with that person.
If you go to messenger app or facebook app go to settings and change the setting so that contacts are not allowed.
If you have a Facebook account your contacts are the least of your worries. Everything that Facebook knows about you and anyone you have ever mentioned, liked, or linked to (even if they don't have a Facebook account) is for sale to anyone who wants to buy that information.
How did Facebook get access to my contacts?
