Safari imported bookmarks automatically, How to remove?

Safari automatically imported bookmarks and settings from chrome without asking.

Any idea on how to remove them? I use different browers for different tasks and this has caused issues.

I personally don't see why importing bookmarks without asking could ever be a good thing.

Anybody else have this same issue?

System: Macos Mojave.

I'm not using Mojave yet (my computer's too old), but every version of Safari I'm familiar with has an option in the Safari menu to "Reset Safari." This will restore it to factory settings, wiping out all bookmarks, history, caches, cookies, and user data.

If you don't want to clear out that much, you could just go in and delete the bookmarks individually.

I'm surprised it did this without asking. It usually has a welcome screen the very first time you run it, with that option already checked. It's easy to click past that screen without noticing.

It might come up again after resetting, so watch out for that little checkbox if it does.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your reply, I have marked this as solved as I expect that these two options are the only possible solutions to this problem.

However I am almost 100% positive that it's not related to the welcome screen as it's not the first time I have used safari on this Mojave install/computer. i'm still sure that a problem still exists but maybe it has only effected people who use safari sparingly. Maybe triggered by an OS point update or a safari update??

I shall reset Safari and shall search for another alternative browser for future use.

Thank you again for your swift reply.

Yes, I suppose it could have been after an incremental update.

I do the same thing, using multiple browsers for different purposes. You might try Firefox. It's my default and has been pretty reliable.

(Sorry, Apple, I suppose I'm only supposed to recommend your stuff. I do use Safari exclusively for mobile browsing. I just find that some websites aren't as friendly to Safari, probably because it's one of the only major browsers that's not cross-platform. Internet Explorer had similar issues when it dropped Mac support.)
