Apple Thunderbolt 27" display connecting to Mac Mini (2018) - do I need an adapter?

Can I plug my display directly into my new Mac Mini (2018) or will I need an adapter? If so, which adapter should I use/get? The "Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter"?

Mac mini 2018 or later

Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter I have a late 2013 27" iMac. I am purchasing a 2020 M1 Mac mini. Can I use this adapter to use my iMac as a display for the Mac mini? If not, is there another adapter that I am able to purchase so that I can utilize this perfectly good monitor? Thanks! JKH

Do I need a Thunderbolt 3 Cable to connect to a USBC(not Thunderbolt 3) display? To connect my MacBook Air (2020) to a Dell display with USBC(not Thunderbolt 3), is this the correct cable to use? Or a USB C 3.1 will do?
