Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter

I have a late 2013 27" iMac.

I am purchasing a 2020 M1 Mac mini.

Can I use this adapter to use my iMac as a display for the Mac mini?

If not, is there another adapter that I am able to purchase so that I can utilize this perfectly good monitor?

Thanks!

JKH

You're thinking of:

Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode - Apple Support - https://support.apple.com/HT204592 - iMacs late 2009-Mid 2014. This document is no longer updated.

This could only be done with a very few and very specific older iMacs and support was very limited. Read this topic for a 2021 perspective on this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252271436?answerId=254300142022#254300142022

It seems a M1 and Big Sur post date the intended use of this function and likely it won't work.

Thanks, Jack.

If I understand correctly, older Mac Minis are able to use the iMacs running older OS as displays.

I am well aware what an iMac is as I am the one that purchased and owns it.

Limnos answered my question with an explanation rather than a condescending and over generalized answer, but thanks for your effort.
