I'm just tidying up my photos and checking the face detection for some of the people I have loaded on my collection. How do I removed un named faces Photos has detected so they don't keep coming up? I'm using high sierra, Photos 3.0. Thanks
Is your system version macOS 10.13.6, the last version of High Sierra? Then it is too late. The last version of Sierra disabled the ability to remove automatically detected unnamed faces.
In the previous versions of Photos it has been possible to click the "x" on the circle around an automatically detected face to reject this face. But starting with the last version of Sierra it is no longer possible to remove automatically detected faces. You can only remove faces you added manually. Just ignore the unnamed faces of strangers and statues and no faces at all.

Thanks Leonie. I have HS 10.13.6 so I'll just have to live with it.
I find that with each OS upgrade it disturbs the faces functionality. It's ok but gets untidy. Nothing I can't live with but it used to work a lot better.
The changes to the way the People album is handled now, is probably the price to pay for the ability to sync the named faces across all devices with iCloud Photos Library. Previously we had to name each face over and over again on each device and may have created inconsistent names for the named faces. At least, this has been solved by the new method the people album is handled.
