OSX Maverick 2 factor authentication FAIL

Hey Apple... Here's a flaw for you.

I went to restore my MSX Maverick 2010 Macbook Air (due to the fool keyboard), and it is asking me to log in to my apple ID... I do that, and it then says I need to add the 2 factor authentication code at the end.

Now, read closely here, as it is complicated, but I dont have an iphone or ipad, so I RELY on the SMS function for the code... but OSX doesnt give me an option to send the code. How do I get the code, Apple? Hmmmm???

Hello atkinsondp,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that you're not receiving the option to receive a text or a call when trying to verify your MacBook Air with two-factor authentication. I can surely see how this could be concerning.

In order to use two-factor authentication appropriately it's recommend you have a Mac with El Capitan or later. I recommend updating your MacBook Air and see if the issue persists.

Restore is possibly the wrong word.

Recover is better.

It is a blank drive and I am trying to reinstall OSX so I can upgrade it.

In the current OS, it doesn't allow for a text message.

The only option I have is to purchase a second device to get the code.

Big big big flaw. Or perhaps this was your evil plan all along.

And dont say go to a genius bar because that is 200km away.

Any other suggestions?
