Icon's disappeared from Launchpad and while active.

I am running High Sierra on my iMac. I have just upgraded to Mohave to my MacBook Pro (Early Retina) The main issue is that (on my iMac) my icons have disappeared from Launchpad, and when they are activated from Launchpad, they do NOT arrive on the operating screen. They instead have a "Default" Icon with a rectangle, Brush, pencil and ruler. Any ideas would be greatly helpful

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?
