when updating to ios12 from ios9 i get error 14
Trying to update my iphone 5s to iOS12 from iOS9 has failed twice (error 14). Update attempts were via iTunes on my laptop. Phone is now nonfunctional, locked in midupdate.

In order to isolate the issue, try testing with a different known good Lightning to USB cable as well as a different computer.
