Hi Ceplep1985,
The iCloud syncing service is an "all or nothing" process. You can turn it on or off for each device, but you can't control the syncing activity. Please be careful to read the information before proceeding. Do not delete the photos on our iPhone if you have iCloud Photos enabled or they will be deleted everywhere. If you are concerned about space on your iPhone, all you have to do is enable the Optimize setting in iCloud for your iPhone.

Good morning Ceplep1985,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand you want to quit iCloud Photos on your iPhone. The resource below explains how:
"How do I turn off iCloud Photos on only one device?
Before you turn off iCloud Photos, you might want to make a copy of your photos and videos.
You can turn off iCloud Photos on a single device when you follow these steps:
If you have Optimize Storage turned on, you might not have all of your original photos and videos on your device. To download the original photos and videos on your iOS device, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos and select Download and Keep Originals. On your Mac, open Photos, choose Photos > Preferences, then select Download Originals to this Mac. Then you can turn off iCloud Photos. You can also select the photos and videos that you want to download from iCloud.com."
Take care.
Thank you for the reply. Is there a way to just stop automatically uploading pics to iCloud without changing pictures (deleting on device or downloading orignals). Staying signed in to iCloud just stop the automatic upload?
