Magic Mouse and keyboard disconnecting when I remove usb

hi, so I just got an iMac 2017 21.5" about a week ago because I'm an amateur musician and I wanted a good computer to record with. I have a guitar amp called a boss katana 100 head and it has a direct recording via usb and it seems to work pretty well, however, when I either turn the amp off or unplug it from the back of my Mac the keyboard and mouse come up with a connection lost message. I tried turning off and on the mouse and keyboard a million times and plugging them into the computer but the only way to reconnect is to turn the computer off and on with the power button. I'm new to the Macs so is there something I'm doing wrong? appreciate any help I can get. thanks.

You need to un-mount the device prior to removing their USB cable. This can be done in a Finder window by locating the device in the Finder Sidebar (ensure the Sidebar is visible first) and you will see an upside down triangle symbol with a line under it to the right of the device name. Click that symbol and the device will un-mount in a few seconds and disappear from the Finder window. It is then safe to disconnect the USB connection.
