Notes app lagging

Dear community,

I noticed that my Notes app started to become laggy and draining my CPU. I guess it has to do with the iCloud sync since the "network activity" wheel in the sidebar keeps spinning and spinning sometimes, without big or any changes to notes at all. When I click into a note then, there is a lag of several seconds until I can type.

I am on a 15" mid-2010 MacBook Pro running macOS High Sierra and have about 300 notes, which were no problem up until recently.

Anybody else experiencing this? I tried deactivating the iCloud notes account so it had to freshly download all notes again, but no luck.

In fact there were error messages: the database file (NoteStore.sqlite) was corrupt and could not be read. I disabled the iCloud's notes account again, deleted the corrupted sqlite file (with the notes app closed of course), activated iCloud's notes account again and now everything works like charm.

Thank you so much for your answer—I always forget about the console!
