Previous NAS SATA II Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200.11 won't show up on Mac mini 2018

I have 4 of these drives from an HP Windows Home Server NAS setup. When I connect them to my Mac, they won't show up so I can't reformat them or view them on my Mac. How can I erase and re-format. I no longer have the HP NAS server.

Can you feel/hear if the Seagate Barracudas are spinning up?

If they are working they should show up in Disk Utility.

Look in About This Mac>System Report>Hardware>Thunderbolt and see if the drives show up. What should show up is both the OWC dock (but it may not be listed as dock but it will list something about the dock) and connected disk.

Yes, they are SATA drives, not SAS drives. They were previously installed in an HP Windows Home Server which was accessed by both PC and Mac desktops and laptops. The drives were working fine before I salvaged them and I no longer have the NAS HP device, just the bare drives.

I will try to find a PC and use Seagate's Disk Wizard software to see if I can erase them. Then I should be able to mount and format them on my Mac. I'll post here if I find a solution.

I was able to format a brand new Seagate Barracuda 4TB bare drive using my OWC dual drive dock, so that is working fine.

Thanks lllaass for sticking with this.

Not showing up in Disk Utility.

Mac Mini 2018->Apple USB-C Thunderbird 3 to Thunderbird 2 Adapter->Apple Thunderbird 2 Cable->OWC Thunderbird 2 dual drive dock.

I also have a bare external 1TB SSD SATA II drive from OWC that also doesn't show up when plugged into the OWC drive dock.

The drive dock also has a USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 input, so I will try using that next and post result.

Thx for the quick reply.

Used an OWC Thunderbolt 2 cable and the SSD shows up. I'll replace the Apple cable as I need the OWC one for a display.

Still no response at all from the Seagate Barracudas. Do I have to find a way to erase them using a PC and a NAS server before they'll be recognized by my Mac for formatting? I know all 4 of them were working fine in the NAS configuration.
