Macbook screen flickering green (sometimes) - solution found

Dear all,

I purchased a new MacBook Pro 2018, 15 inch, a month ago. Already had some trouble with a crashing HD and tiny chip off exterior within first days, so was happy when after one week I had a version where everything was running smoothly.

So for weeks I kept ignoring a minor annoyance. Whenever I was watching a video - mostly Netflix - I would have green flickering across the screen, mostly in areas where the video would show black. It was not at all the full screen bright green - that is another issue altogether I think. Just not delineated, amorphous areas flickering screen in an otherwise apparently normally colored video. Also in between scenes, the black screen appeared to have an almost black but just dark geen screen in between full black bars top and bottom. Happened both using Safari and Google Chrome (the latter I use more often for Netflix).

Turns out there was one easy solution: turning off 'adjust brightness automatically'. The option just above TrueTone if you click on Settings and Screen. I toggled it on and off when watching an episode of the Affair where I saw repeatedly these same flickerings. On: green flickering on parts of the screen. Off: nothing of the sort.

Pfff. Weeks wondering whether I had to return this one as well. Thankfully all seems fine now.

Posting this aiming to help others with the same q.
