Photos are very blurry and there is a delay between pressing the button and the photo being taken.
This first appeared in 12.1, was fixed in 12.1.1 then started happening again in 12.1.2.
Very annoying when they used to be crystal clear.

KB, re-start the iPhones, that ought to correct it.
If you're sure it's an issue with the iPhone model (because it's happening on 3 devices), posting on a user to user forum is most likely not going to help. Contact Apple or submit feedback to Product Feedback. If you post to a user forum, you're going to get basic troubleshooting steps because we aren't Apple engineers.
Did you clean the camera lens?
The quality may suffer because its covered with fingerprints and stuff.
Are they blurry in your gallery or in a viewfinder?
(I Did a post on this issue before) So i have the same problem also with the Front and Rear cameras on my Xs Max running 12.1.2.
I Got the rear camera replaced, didn't help. So i took the phone back and got the hole unit replaced (new iphone), but STILL the same blurry, static, grained pictures on front/rear cameras. It gets worse the more you zoom in on the pictures. So i don't know what to do.
In my pboto gallary. Happenson my Wife's XS too. Was fixed in 12.1.1 for us both and now broken again in 12.1.2.
Do you use iCloud Photos and an option to optimise storage?
Ok, I know you are trying to be helpful but I am a systems administrator for on of the biggest theatres in London. I deal with hundreds of these devices on a daily basis. I wouldn't be creating a post on the support forums unless I was 100% sure this was a software issue that could not be fixed by myself. The fact that I can replicate this on 2 devices that were bought from the same apple shop on the same day and are running the same software tells me that this is not a dirty lens .

Ah, community level doesn’t depend on a number of posts, but on marks “Helpful” and “Solved”. So this is not a goal.
I’m sorry we were not aware of you job and your biography and posting stupid things.
The actual thing is that sometimes people have issues that are resolved by simple steps. And if you are such a hardcore system administrator, then you have to know if the restarting and restoring of an iPhone do not resolve an issue, then you have to contact Apple Support for diagnostics, repairs and replacements.
I do not expect a magical cure for my issue on here. But this is a good place to maybe find another member of the community that may have had/solved the same issue.
Surely this is the best option to exhaust first before taking time from my life to waste away in an Apple store.

I would recommend to submit your post to reddit. Maybe they can give you an advise.

I do but that's not the issue. We are talking about looking at the picture just after taking it.
I was just trying to see if anyone else was having the issue. We cant be the only ones. There were already a few other posts about this issue on here.
Restarting them does not resolve the issue. That was the 1st thing to try.
