For the longest time, whenever I try to message my father using iMessage on my Macbook, he receives it as an email from my cell phone number (number@vzwpix.com) to his email address. When looking at the text preferences for his contact, I see "Text message" next to his phone number, but "iMessage" next to his email address. Is there any way to change these preferences?

That’s likely how your father’s carrier has configured text messages on that particular cellular plan for that particular phone. Talk with the cellular carrier support folks about the phone, phone number and the cellular data plan involved.
