Safari keeps quitting on me

Every so often, Safari quits on me and I get a grey screen, it says something about the Safari extensions being updated/downloaded. I try to quit Safari but it wont for a few minutes. After that, Safari restarts and all my previously opened and pinned taps are closed, and a search engine/extension that was called something like, "HP your way" pops up. I can uninstall the "HP your way," but I want to know why its happening and how I can stop it

You have adware installed on your Mac.

Remove adware using Malwarebytes for Mac.

1.  Use  the latest release of MalwareBytes for Mac to remove malware/adware.

     Install guide:       https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1817

     Uninstall Guide:  https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1190

The installer may ask you to allow it in Security & Privacy  /System Preference. Allow it.

Click the “Scan Now” button. Once done Quit Malwarebytes for Mac.

 2. Disable/Uninstall all extensions and test.

Uninstall extensions you have not installed knowingly.

     Section: Manage extensions: https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/use-safari-extensions-sfri32508/mac

Restart the computer, relaunch Safari holding the shift key down.
