Missing incoming calls from iPhone on iPad

I have my iPad configured to make and receive phone calls through my iPhone. It works, mostly. Several times a day a call will come in on my iPhone, but it will not ring on the iPad. And I have no way to transfer the call from iPhone to iPad.

I don't know what the difference is. It's the same wifi network that works most of the time.

As a test, after I'm done with the call on the iPhone, I will try making an outgoing calls on my iPad. And it works. So I don't think the iPad is being disconnected from the network or anything

This is really aggravating because I always have to keep my iPhone close by when I'm working on my iPad. So I can tell if somebody is calling. I can't rely on the iPad to notify me of incoming calls 100% of the time.

Any ideas here?

Hello Williammadonna,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities.

From the sound of things, you're typically able to make and receive calls on the iPad, but intermittently, the iPad seems to not recognize calls. Is that about right?

If that's the case, it sounds like your setup is great and in line with the requirements in the "Set up iPhone Cellular Calls" section here: Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch. However, since it's not consistently alerting you on the iPad end, I recommend re-configuring iPhone Cellular Calls and keeping an eye on it.

To do this, tap Settings > FaceTime on the iPad; then, turn off Calls from iPhone. Then, on the iPhone, tap Settings > Phone > Calls on Other Devices, and turn this off. Give it a moment and turn Calls on Other Devices back on for your iPhone. Then, turn Calls from iPhone back on on the iPad end.

If you find the same behavior occurs, you might check this out next to determine if there might be an interference issue: Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference.

I hope this helps.

Cheers.
